Dr. Catherine Lord Receives 2019 INSAR Lifetime Achievement Award
Dr. Catherine Lord, Distinguished Professor-in-Residence School of Medicine at UCLA and Senior Research Scientist in the Semel Institute for Neuroscience and Human Behavior, was presented with the 2019 International Society for Autism Research (INSAR) Lifetime Achievement Award for her outstanding commitment to autism research.
Dr. Lord is a practicing clinical psychologist with specialties in autism diagnosis and interventions as well and social and communication development for autism. She has had a profound impact on autism research with her longitudinal studies of social and communicative development in autism spectrum disorders (ASD). Her commitment to autism expands past research and includes the development of standardized diagnostic instruments for ASD with colleagues from the United Kingdom and the United States. She is well-known for her work in the creation of the Autism Diagnostic Observation Schedule (ADOS), an observational scale, and the Autism Diagnostic Interview — Revised (ADI-R), a parent interview, the fold standards for research diagnoses all over the world.
