Program Overview

Welcome to the UCLA Child OCD, Anxiety, and Tic Disorder’s program! We are a clinical and research-based program dedicated to providing specialized care for children and adolescents struggling with anxiety and related disorders. Our goal is to deliver effective, evidence-based treatments to improve the lives of youth dealing with conditions such as:

  • Obsessive-Compulsive Disorder (OCD)
  • Anxiety Disorders and Specific Phobias
  • Selective Mutism (SM)
  • Tourette’s Syndrome and Other Tic Disorders
  • Trichotillomania & Other Body-focused repetitive behaviors (BFRBs)

To read more about these disorders, please visit our resources page.

Our Services

We offer evidence-based, structured treatment programs tailored to each child's needs. Our services include:
  1. Individual Therapy – Weekly therapy sessions provided by trainees under the guidance of attending clinicians.
  2. Group Psychotherapy – Targeted therapy groups addressing specific concerns related to OCD, anxiety, and tic disorders.
  3. Medication Management – Evaluation and prescription monitoring for children who may benefit from pharmacological support.

Psychiatry Services Policy : Our psychiatric services are only available to individuals who are established therapy patients in our clinic. Psychiatric appointments cannot be scheduled independently. To access these services, families must complete our screening process and begin therapy with our program.

Short-Term Focus: Our program typically provides treatment for approximately six months, with limited extensions available for further stabilization.

Case-by-Case Admission: We admit children based on the training needs of our clinicians at the time, not the order of inquiry. Admission to the waiting pool does not guarantee placement in our clinic.

Steps for New Patient Inquiries

As part of UCLA’s commitment to advancing mental health care, our program serves as a training clinic for psychiatry residents and psychology interns under the supervision of experienced attending doctors. If you're interested in learning more or beginning the screening process, please contact us.
