Arts Program Specialist for the California Arts Council
Jason Jong serves as Arts Program Specialist with the California Arts Council (CAC), and is responsible for the planning and administration of the Local Impact and Veterans in the Arts project grant opportunities, and Cultural Pathways – a general operating grant supporting small arts organizations working with people of color, immigrants and refugees, and tribal and indigenous groups. He serves as liaison to the National Arts and Disability Center and is the CAC’s Accessibility Coordinator.
Jason previously served more than a decade with the City of Oakland, Cultural Funding Program, Cultural Arts & Marketing Division, and Oakland Fund for Children and Youth, playing key roles in program design, implementation, policy development, and marketing. He served as chair of the Richmond Arts & Culture Commission, member of the Asian Pacific Advisory Council for the Oakland Museum of California, staff and consultant to the Oakland Asian Cultural Center, and performed as percussionist and production staff with a number of Bay Area world music and dance ensembles.
Community nonprofit leadership roles include serving as producer of the Sacramento Asian Pacific Film Festival, and board member of Iu-Mien Community Services; APIs RISE (philanthropic giving circle), and the E. Claire Raley Studios for the Performing Arts.
