Dr. Barstein is a licensed clinical psychologist who specializes in the assessment and treatment of individuals with neurodevelopmental disabilities such as autism spectrum disorder (ASD) across the lifespan. While trained as a child and adolescent psychologist, Dr. Barstein is well-versed in working with individuals with neurodevelopmental disabilities across the lifespan. She has received extensive training in multidisciplinary and evidence-based assessment and treatment through her doctoral program at Northwestern University, doctoral internship at JFK Partners – the University of Colorado’s Leadership and Education in Neurodevelopmental Disabilities (LEND) program, and her post-doctoral fellowship at The Help Group and UCLA’s Semel Institute. Dr. Barstein currently provides clinical care through Spectrum Psych LA, a group private practice in Los Angeles, where she completes comprehensive diagnostic evaluations as well as provides individual and family therapy for neurodivergent children and adults. Additionally, Dr. Barstein is a supervising psychologist at the Help Group, where she supervises doctoral and post-doctoral level trainees.

Dr. Barstein is an LGBTQIA+ affirming therapist who has developed a subs-specialty in working with autistic individuals who are exploring their sexual or gender identity. Dr. Barstein leads sex education groups for adolescents and young adults with ASD and is passionate about developing effective sex education programming and supports for neurodivergent adults. Dr. Barstein recently piloted a novel sex education program for young adults with ASD, in collaboration with Dr. Eileen Crehan at Tufts University. She plans to re-launch a modified version of the group in January 2023 with Spectrum Psych Los Angeles.
