The webinar on An Autism College High School Innovation for Educational and Vocational Excellence (A ACHIEVE) Project will be held from 11:00 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. on Wednesday November 15, 2017. Please disseminate this announcement across your networks.

The vast majority of participants indicated that they were available on next Wednesday at 11:00 a.m., hence the determination of this date/time. In order to participate during the webinar, you must register in advance. Webinar content, suggestions for who may attend, learning objectives, and registration information is provided below.

Webinar content:

The purpose of the webinar is to provide an overview of the A ACHIEVE project in Pennsylvania. This project is a collaboration between the department of education, department of higher education, and the office of vocational rehabilitation. Through the Workforce Innovation Opportunities Act (WIOA) and Pre Employment Transition Services, A ACHIEVE has started programs for students with autism in 5 Universities and 2 Community Colleges. We work with students at the local high schools from 9th grade on to be sure they have the skills for success to transition into the college programs.

Who should attend:

California Community Colleges' Administrators, Chief Student Services Officers, Vice Presidents of Student Services, Deans of Educational Programs, Deans of Instruction, Deans of Student Services, Academic and Career Counseling Services, Faculty, DSPS Coordinators & Directors, and Student Success & Equity Directors, Workability III Coordinators, and anyone interested in the topic should attend.

The webinar has the following learning objectives:

 

  • As a result of participating in the A ACHIEVE webinar, participants will be able to list three indicators that are used to assess Pre Employment Transition Services
  • Participants will be able to identify needs for students with autism and how college success can improve competitive employment
  • As a result of participating in the webinar, participants will be able to describe examples of different college autism support programs.
  • Participants will be able to apply practical strategies for students with autism
