CLIMB Theatre
CLIMB Theatre was founded in 1975 by Peg Wetli to give persons with disabilities access to theatre arts. CLIMB's purpose was to create unique theatrical experiences that allowed persons with even very severe mental and physical disabilities to use their imaginations, exercise their creativity, and become involved in plays, characters, and improvisation. The result of creating theatre for very specific and atypical audiences was the development of a very specific artistic process which we call Instructive Theatre. Since that time, they have evolved from a theatre company for persons with disabilities to a theatre company that uses drama techniques to teach life skills to all children. CLIMB is a "theatre on wheels". Their plays and classes focus on socially important issues such as violence prevention, substance abuse prevention, sexual harassment, conflict resolution, resiliency, gender differences, diversity, ecology, and more.
