Alabama Department of Mental Health

The Alabama Department of Mental Health is the state agency responsible for serving Alabama citizens with mental illness, mental retardation and substance abuse problems. Last fiscal year, we served around 200,000 people through a broad network of state mental illness and mental retardation facilities and community-based services, including residential, outpatient and prevention programs for persons with substance abuse problems.
