Tolley Marney - Harmony of Life

Title of Piece: Tortoise and the Hare
Medium: Hand built steel
Dimensions: 27” Height, 28” length, 15” depth
Description: The hare is a jackrabbit, sitting erect of the back of a desert tortoise. It is as tall as the average 4 year old child and weighs about the same. The natural gray steel is shiny and bright where the hammer work is smooth, and dark gray and textured in the other places. The steel takes on the cool side of the room temperature unless it is outside in the hot sun. Then, it absorbs and reflects enough heat that it can be too hot to touch. On a freezing day, if you licked it, your tongue would stick.
