About
SNIHP investigates how social experiences—such as loneliness, support, and discrimination—influence brain function and health. The lab combines methods from neuroscience, psychology, and immunology to understand how social stress “gets under the skin” to affect physical and mental health. Research topics include social threat, inflammation, and brain-immune interactions in anxiety and depression. The lab also explores interventions that may buffer these effects, like mindfulness and social connection. Its mission is to illuminate the biological pathways linking social environments to health outcomes.
