Center for Social Medicine & Humanities

We are a community of scholars bringing insights from the social sciences and humanities to bear on the urgent challenges of health, disease, and scientific and clinical practice, with a commitment to social justice, public service, pedagogy, local and global healthcare access, and scholarship. We house the Social Science & Humanities Track of the Medical Scientist Training Program. We maintain the UCLA History of Medicine Archive and conduct fieldwork, mixed methods program evaluations, and archival research in Los Angeles and around the world.
