The HEART Lab integrates clinical, teaching, and research that focuses on reducing mental health disparities/inequities through thedevelopment and evaluation of culturally responsive treatments for self-harm/suicide for ethnoracially minoritized youth, and for youth thathave been impacted by different social systems (i.e., juvenile legal and child welfare systems). The HEART lab also has ongoing studieswith a broad range of methodologies that examine cultural factors that may influence psychopathology in Latinx youth(including cultural protective factors), as well as the evaluation of constructs spanning multiple domains of influence (e.g., biological,behavioral, socio-cultural, environmental, physical environment, health system) and multiple levels of influence (e.g., individual, interpersonal,community, societal) on self-harm/suicide.
