SPARK launces a Spanish version of their nationwide study

We are excited to announce that SPARK (Simons Foundation Powering Autism Research and Knowledge) has launched a Spanish version of their nationwide study. SPARK is a landmark national autism research study designed to speed up research and advance our understanding of autism to help improve lives. SPARK will collect unique information from thousands of individuals affected by autism to give researchers the information they need to improve treatment and achieve scientific advances as rapidly as possible. More participants in SPARK means more good data for research.

This has been a highly anticipated addition since SPARK’s start 7 years ago, and one pushed for by UCLA’s very own Dr. Amanda Gulsrud since she joined the study team. Our hope is that this new version will allow us to connect with our Spanish speaking community, and help us provide them with resources and research opportunities. Both of our research coordinators, Raquel Amador and Kayleigh Bullon, are prepared and excited to interact with new families as they are both members of the Latinx community and fluent in Spanish. SPARK en español

Nos complace anunciar que SPARK (Simons Foundation Powering Autism Research and Knowledge) ha lanzado una versión en español de su estudio nacional. SPARK es una gran asociación de investigación en línea que busca mejorar la vida de las personas con autismo a través de la investigación. El objetivo de SPARK es acelerar la investigación sobre el autismo para comprender mejor sus causas y tratamientos. Mediante la creación de una comunidad de decenas de miles de individuos con autismo y sus familiares biológicos que proporcionan datos conductuales e información genética, SPARK será el mayor estudio de investigación sobre el autismo hasta la fecha.

Esto ha sido una adición muy esperada desde el inicio de SPARK 7 años atrás, y algo trabajado por Dra. Amanda Gulsrud, investigadora principal de SPARK en UCLA, desde que se unió al equipo del estudio. Nuestra esperanza es que esta nueva versión nos permitirá conectarnos con nuestra comunidad hispana, y nos ayudará a ofrecerles recursos y oportunidades de investigación. Nuestras dos coordinadoras de investigación, Raquel Amador y Kayleigh Bullon, están preparadas y emocionadas de interactuar con nuevas familias ya que ambas son miembros de la comunidad Latinx y hablan español con fluidez.
