About

Our mission is to ensure that all people with mental illness receive high-quality care and achieve the best possible outcomes. We pursue this through state-of-the-art clinical services and research that develops methods for measuring quality, evaluates the quality of mental health care, and tests the effectiveness and implementation of innovative technologies, interventions, and services.

The Quality of Healthcare Lab is part of the UCLA Department of Psychiatry and Biobehavioral Sciences, the Semel Institute for Neuroscience and Human Behavior, and the Department of Veterans Affairs (VA). Our team includes faculty, trainees, students, and staff. We have expertise in health services research, implementation science, clinical trials, peer and consumer services, health education, coaching, patient-reported outcomes, clinical informatics, artificial intelligence, and psychopharmacologic and psychosocial treatments. We focus on mental healthcare in the community.  Our research is funded by the National Institutes of Health and the Department of Veterans Affairs.
