The Tarjan Center will host a webinar on Competitive Employment Incentives that May Impact the Engagement of Individuals with Intellectual and Developmental Disabilities (IDD)

The Tarjan Center's Open the Doors to College will host a Webinar entitled, "Competitive Employment Incentives that May Impact the Engagement of Individuals with Intellectual and Developmental Disabilities (IDD)" on Monday March 6, 2017 from 2:00 PM – 3:30 PM.   

The purpose of the webinar is to provide California community colleges and community partners with information on two newly authorized programs (i.e. the Competitive Integrated Employment Incentives Program and the Paid Internship Program) for individuals that are regional center consumers. Participants will learn about two new regional center programs. The first is funding (up to $3,750 per regional center client) for regional center vendors who assist individuals with IDD to transition from school to competitive integrated employment1.  The second is up to $10,400 per intern per state fiscal year in funding to cover wages during a paid internship for a regional center client as a pathway to competitive integrated employment.

Participants will also learn about the requirements for the sequencing of funding between regional centers, education, and the Department of Rehabilitation. This webinar will provide information on new opportunities for community colleges to support students with IDD to achieve competitive integrated employment.

California Community Colleges' Administrators, Chief Student Services Officers, Vice Presidents of Student Services, Deans of Career Technical Education, Deans of Workforce Development, Deans of Student Services, Academic and Career Counseling professionals, Faculty, DSPS Coordinators & Directors, College to Career Coordinators, Student Success & Equity Directors, and Workability III Coordinators (Regional Center Administrators and Coordinators, Vocational Rehabilitation Administrators and Counselors, as well as interested community partners, are invited to attend)   

 The webinar has the following learning objectives:  As a result of participating in the webinar, participants will be able to describe the purpose of the Competitive Integrated Employment Incentive; Participants will be able to describe the roles of vendors, employers and the regional center in implementing the Paid Internship Program.
