Intellectual Disabilities Program

The Intellectual Disabilities (ID) Program at Coastline Community College is designed to meet the social, academic and fitness needs of students with intellectual disabilities. The program provides instruction that promotes growth toward greater independence and assists persons with intellectual disabilities to live and work in their own community, enjoying the same options and choices as persons without disabilities. The program provides a wide variety of course offerings in such areas as: Academic growth, Community awareness, Enrichment, Fitness, Independent Living, Social Skills, and Technology.

Housing: No housing is offered through this program.

Criterion for entry is based upon the completion of a packet consisting of: A Special Programs and Services Application; DSP&S New Student Registration Form; Release Statement for Parent that student will sign IF s/he is willing to have the college speak with that parent; Release Statement for Siblings, Friends and/or Family members other that Parents that the student will sign IF s/he wants the college to have the permission to be able to speak to an individual about the student's educational needs, etc; Records Release form - for an agency to be able to release information regarding the student; Student Code of Conduct form; Student Emergency Form ; Students are also asked to provide documentation showing verification of their disability; The signed document can be from a medical doctor, psychologist, psychiatrist, standardized testing records, etc.
