Employment First Movement: The Train Has Left the Station

This week, CECY released its first brief that focuses on California’s new Employment First Policy which Governor Jerry Brown signed into legislation on October 9, 2013. Employment First emphasizes integrated competitive employment (ICE) as the first priority and preferred outcome for adults with significant disabilities. The brief outline explains what the policy is and does in clear language, includes an overview of California’s history in achieving the legislation, and provides a national overview of the Employment First movement across the country.

Congratulations to Tarjan Center’s Graduate Student Steven Kapp, primary writer of the brief, which is expected to be distributed widely across the state. Go here to downloand the brief.
