William Saltzman

William Saltzman

Dr. Saltzman is Associate Director for the FOCUS Project. He is a clinical psychologist trained at the University of Maryland and UCLA and has been on staff with the UCLA Trauma Psychiatry Program since 1995.  In that capacity, he has developed, implemented, and evaluated a series of domestic and international programs for children and families impacted by war; community violence, school shootings, and traumatic death; and war-time deployment.   Since 2002, Dr. Saltzman’s primary focus has been the co-development of the FOCUS Project intervention and he has consulted extensively with military families and military service providers.  He has provided direct clinical services and clinical supervision at the CSULB Educational Psychology Clinic, at Memorial Hospital in Long Beach, and at the UCLA Neuropsychiatric Institute & Hospital. Dr. Saltzman is a Professor of Counseling at the California State University, Long Beach where he is Director of the Master’s Program for Marriage and Family Therapy. He has also been a staff member of the National Center for Child Traumatic Stress at UCLA since 2001 where he co-directed the School Intervention Unit and has authored numerous articles and chapters.
