Candace Jeavons Wilkinson, Ph.D.
Candace J. Wilkinson, Ph.D. is CART’s Director of Operations and Outreach and has been directly involved since December 2004 in the development and growth of CART first as an NIH STAART, then as an NIH Autism Center of Excellence (ACE), center. Dr. Wilkinson was trained as a scientist-practitioner and obtained her Ph.D. in clinical psychology from Kent State University. She also was awarded a two-year NIAAA postdoctoral fellowship. Dr. Wilkinson is a licensed clinical psychologist with over 20 years experience in clinical research and project management including roles as principal investigator for numerous psychopharmacological studies of behavioral impairment and project director for several large-scale NIH clinical trials. Her research has been published in the Journal of the American Medical Association (JAMA), Journal of Clinical Psychiatry, and Pharmacology, Biochemistry and Behavior, among others. Her primary role for CART is to facilitate the daily operations of the center including serving as the main contact for the Center, overseeing all CART projects for IRB compliance, assisting with grant writing and management, and preparing outreach information for the CART website. She also manages CART's special programs, including Pilot Grants, Autism Affinity Lectures, annual CART symposium, CART Newsletter, and other educational and community outreach activities.
