Brian Coburn
Brian Coburn received his Ph.D. in mathematics from the University of Miami in 2009. Since then, he has worked as a Postdoctoral Fellow at the Center for Biomedical Modeling at UCLA. Brian’s work has focused on the transmission dynamics of infectious diseases through the integration of empirical data with computational, mathematical, and statistical analysis. His modeling of HIV and influenza includes such topics as the emergence of novel strains due to transmission between birds, humans, and pigs, predicting the number of infections on a transatlantic flight, and the geospatial analysis of severe HIV epidemics in Africa.
