Wayne was injured in a motorcycle racing accident in 1971 and has continued his love for art through the years. After an early retirement from his computer programmer job in 1991, he seriously started painting and created a series of works that portrayed his journey into physical disability. In 1993 his series was featured at the La Jolla Association of Art. Since then, Wayne has continued to produce works and has received numerous awards for disabled artists in the San Diego area. In 2003, because of increased paralysis, Wayne started painting exclusively with a mouth stick and hopes to be accepted into the Mouth and Foot Painters Association.
