AUTISM & African-American Children press conference, briefing and roundtable discussion.

at First 5 LA Multi-Purpose Room, 750 N. Alameda Street, Los Angeles, CA 90012

(across the street from Union Station)

UCLA CART Director, Dr. Daniel Geschwind, will speak about his recently awarded 5-year $10+ million research grant from the National Institutes of Health (NIH) to continue his research on the genetic causes of autism spectrum disorders and to expand his investigations to include the genetics of autism in the key but underserved population of African-American families. This important press conference is assembling leaders from the nonprofit, foundation, policy and advocacy communities to discuss how we can support this research, expand upon it, and ensure that we create pathways for further resources that enhance the lives of African-American children living with autism and related developmental disorders.

Your input into this important dialogue will be critical and we hope you will join us.  This event is open to the public, so feel free to invite others who may have an interest in this work.  Please RSVP to Emily Taylor at or 213-389-7100.

UCLA CART thanks community partner Areva Martin of Special Needs Network, Inc. for spearheading this important event.
