Sertraline (Zoloft) for the Treatment of Depression in Vascular Dementia

Project Summary

We are investigating the safety and effectiveness of sertraline (Zoloft), an antidepressant, in treating the depressive symptoms suffered specifically by people who have vascular dementia. In addition, we are using brain imaging to examine whether these clinical improvements can be associated with changes in brain anatomy and function.

Aims: Will Sertraline be effective in treating depression in patients with vascular dementia?
Can we associate symptoms of depression with brain anatomy and function?
