TheInternational Center on Deafness and the Arts (ICODA)

TheInternationalCenteron Deafness and the Arts (ICODA) began producing theatre and performance events with children in 1973. Then, adult actors were included, touring area schools and community groups. In 1989, ICODA formed the professional theatre company Centerlight Sign and Voice Theatre to train and pay artists for their creative work. Currently, ICODA produces five groups. Centerlight provides the opportunity for people who are dead, hard of hearing and hearing to work together to create productions that are produced simultaneously in American Sign Language and Voice.
