Videotape Supervision of Psychotherapy

Overview

A standardized, Pan-theoretical Approach to Psychotherapy. Instructors utilize a standardized, module-based approach to the teaching of psychotherapy to psychiatric resident trainees. Focus is on the development of core competencies (e.g., forming a working alliance, identifying maladaptive patterns, dealing with transference and counter transference) to conduct psychotherapy regardless of therapeutic modality. Videotapes of resident psychotherapy sessions, as well as those of faculty members conducting therapy are utilized to clinically anchor didactic material. Offered continuously throughout the year. Mondays, 12-1:30 p.m., B-4 South, Harbor-UCLA Medical Center.
