Adult Inpatient Psychiatry

Overview

Clinical studies are centered around inpatient experiences. The student is assigned to a Resident in Psychiatry, who serves as preceptor and primary clinical instructor. Consultation with faculty members is also provided. Working closely with the resident and staff, the student may admit and treat one or more patients under supervision as time and conditions of the ward milieu permit. The student is responsible for all aspects of medical care, including those of a non-psychiatric nature, and functions as a member of the treatment team on a daily decision making basis.While night work is not required, students may elect to
