NIMH Awards Zero Suicide Grant to UCLA Youth Stress & Mood Program

September 21, 2016

NIMH Awards "Zero Suicide" Grant to  Dr. Joan Asarnow, Director of UCLA Youth Stress & Mood Program. This grant evaluates a stepped care treatment approach for moving towards "Zero Suicides", making suicide a "never event," and reducing suicide attempts in adolescents and young adults within health systems. The "Stepped Care for Suicide Prevention" approach  includes evidence-based treatments and Zero Suicide practices,  and matches treatment intensity to severity of risk. This novel approach will be compared to  Zero Suicide best practices implemented by the health system. The project is being conducted  in partnership with Dr. Greg Clarke of Kaiser Permanente Center for Health Research, Kaiser Permanente Northwest.
