My work uses fMRI to understand social and emotional processes in the human brain. My current work focuses primarily on the characteristics of the "social brain" in terms of what it does during periods of downtime to prepare us for future social interactions, how it functions like a working memory system for the social world, and how this network can be used to facilitate classroom learning. I also study the neural mechanisms supporting persuasion and message propagation as well as the use of affect labeling as a kind of emotion regulation and therapeutic intervention.
