Assistant Professor
Clinical Psychology, University of Massachusetts Amherst

Research Interests:
Dr. Galano’s research investigates how factors across the social ecology (e.g., parenting, social and community support, interpersonal and structural discrimination) influence adjustment following violence exposure, especially as it occurs in early life. As a translational scientist, Dr. Galano’s research on intervention efficacy guides basic research questions, and her basic research identifies mechanisms that can become novel targets of interventions. Through community-engaged research and intervention, Dr. Galano aims to support survivors and their families, improve well-being, and disrupt cycles of violence.
