Our UCLA/South African Trauma Research Training (Phodiso) Program seeks to prepare future investigators to conduct research in trauma and injury prevention as a result of personal, interpersonal and community level violence and intentional injuries. The focus of their research will be to minimize health and mental health effects, specifically depression and post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD) in South Africa. It is an international collaboration between UCLA and the University of the NorthWest, University of Cape Town, and Human Sciences Research Council. These partners will collaborate with other universities, research organizations, traditional healers, and others in South Africa.
