Volunteer Clinical Faculty
The Department of Psychiatry and Biobehavioral Sciences at the UCLA Geffen School of Medicine includes on its teaching faculty over two-hundred psychiatrists who are in private practice in the Los Angeles area, collectively known as the Volunteer Clinical Faculty. These psychiatrists volunteer their time and energies to teach the university's students and psychiatry trainees across a variety of settings, including: clinical supervision, on-site clinical staffing, seminars, lectures and mentoring.
The Chair of the Voluntary Clinical Faculty Academic Appointments & Advancements Committee in the Department is Saul J. Faerstein, MD. The VCF are also represented by the independent Psychiatric Clinical Faculty Association, with Joseph Smurda MD currently acting as President.
There is a regularly updated list of VCF teaching opportunities in the Department. Please contact Mrs. Tameka Runnels-Gibson , the Voluntary Clinical Faculty Coordinator, for more questions (310-825-0125) in the Academic Personnel office (B7-405 in the NPI building).
