Volunteer Clinical Faculty
The Department of Psychiatry and Biobehavioral Sciences at the UCLA Geffen School of Medicine includes on its teaching faculty over two-hundred psychiatrists who are in private practice in the Los Angeles area, collectively known as the Volunteer Clinical Faculty. These psychiatrists volunteer their time and energies to teach the university's students and psychiatry trainees across a variety of settings, including: clinical supervision, on-site clinical staffing, seminars, lectures and mentoring.
The Chair of the Voluntary Clinical Faculty Academic Appointments & Advancements Committee in the Department is Saul J. Faerstein, MD. The VCF are also members of the Psychiatric Clinical Faculty Association (PCFA), an independent non-profit organization that supports psychiatric clinical training at UCLA in numerous ways.
There is a regularly updated list of VCF teaching opportunities in the Department.
