Neurodevelopmental Outcome in Children Exposed to Antidepressant Medication
Rita Suri, M.D.
Principal Investigator

This study will examine developmental measures in children whose mothers took an antidepressant medication during pregnancy and/or while nursing. We will also collect information about the development of infants whose mothers experienced psychiatric symptoms during pregnancy, because it is possible that exposure of the fetus to psychiatric symptoms, rather than to antidepressant medications, during pregnancy can have an unwanted effect on the infant.
Study Involvement
Between the ages of 18-24 months the study's psychologist will conduct a developmental and behavioral assessment with the child. In addition, at 6, 12, and 18 months following delivery, mothers will be asked questions about their mood, breastfeeding (if applicable), and their baby's health and behavior.
