Analysis of Brain Structure and Function
Lori Altshuler, M.D.
Principal Investigator

This study will assess whether changes in particular brain regions occur as a result of different mood states in persons with bipolar disorder using functional magnetic resonance imaging (fMRI) to look for these variations. Study participants will undergo an MRI scan when in a manic or depressed mood. Some participants will be invited to have an additional scan when they have recovered from the mood episode.

Study Involvement
Participants will undergo two one-hour scans, the first while in a mood state and the second after recovering from the episode.
