UCLA Mood Disorders Research Program
Dedicated to understanding and treating mood disorders
An estimated 10% of the U.S. adult population suffers from mood disorders at any given time. That translates to approximately 21.7 million U.S. adults.

The mission of the UCLA Mood Disorders Research Program is to help find better treatments for individuals suffering from mood disorders and to further our understanding of the etiology of such disorders through research .

  • Our clinical programs seek to specifically evaluate and treat depression and bipolar disorder (also known as manic depression).

  • Our research programs are focused on bipolar disorder , major depressive disorder and depression specific to women's life phases , such as pregnancy, postpartum, perimenopause and menopause.
