Program Description: Practicum trainees in the Children’s Friendship Program which is part of the Child Division at the UCLA Medical School & Semel Institute, will participate in two intervention groups. Referrals are from the community at large. These first through 5th grade children present with problems making and keeping friends. Diagnoses most commonly include ADHD, Spectrum disorder. Each practicum trainee is trained to achieve proficiency in administration of this manualized intervention.
Current position openings: We currently have 1 position each year, with option to complete 2 sets of treatment groups, each lasting 12 weeks.
Resource Allocation: The practicum trainee supervised by Drs. Frankel, Robert Myatt and Cynthia Whitham LCSW. Dr Frankel and Cynthia Whitham have available office space in the 300 Medical Plaza, 1st floor on the UCLA Campus.
Supervision: All practicum trainees will receive weekly supervision from Drs. Frankel, Myatt, or Cynthia Whitham, who are licensed clinical psychologists and clinical social worker. Practicum trainee evaluations will be completed by Dr. Frankel. Orientation to Children’s Friendship Program is conducted by Dr. Frankel as needed.
