Mindfulness-Based Interventions in Context: Past, Present, and Future

Psychiatry Grand Rounds

The Semel Institute Psychiatry Grand Rounds will be held on THURSDAY, October 7th at 12:00 PM in the Louis Jolyon West Auditorium, C8-183, Semel Institute/NPI.

Our lecturer will be: Jon Kabat-Zinn, Ph.D. Professor of Medicine emeritus University of Massachusetts Medical School Center for Mindfulness in Medicine, Health Care, and Society

The topic of the presentation will be "Mindfulness-Based Interventions in Context:  Past, Present, and Future" 

Educational Objectives:

  1. Summarize the core elements of a mindfulness-based intervention in order for it to be truly "mindfulness-based"
  2. List the areas of current research into possible mechanisms of action of mindfulness and assess opportunities for future investigation
  3. Review the types of patients who are likely to respond to mindfulness-based interventions
