Judith Piggot


Image of Judith Piggot Dr. Piggot is Consultant Child and Adolescent Psychiatrist for the UCLA Center for Autism Research and Treatment (CART), which was awarded an NIH Autism Center of Excellence (ACE) grant in July 2007. Dr. Piggot also is a principal investigator of the UCLA Simons Simplex Collection Study being undertaken at CART.

Dr. Piggot is an Assistant Professor-in-Residence in the UCLA Departments of Child and Adolescent Psychiatry and Psychology and specializes in functional neuroimaging of quantitative traits that characterize social communication impairment in autism spectrum disorders. Her research has focused on the cognitive, functional and genetic etiology of emotion attribution deficits in individuals with social communication impairment and their families. She provides clinical training to the child psychiatry and psychology fellows at UCLA.

Dr. Piggot received her Bachelors Degree in Medicine and Surgery from Glasgow University in 1991. She has a M.Sc. in Genetics and a Ph.D. in Functional Neuroimaging from Glasgow University. She also completed postdoctoral training in neuroimaging in the Department of Psychiatry and Behavioral Sciences at Stanford University before joining the faculty at UCLA in 2007.
