John Luo

Dr. Luo has been recently promoted to Associate Clinical Professor of Psychiatry in 2007. He is the Associate Director of Psychiatric Residency Training and Director of Psychiatric Emergency Services. He graduated from UCLA with a B.S. in Biochemistry in 1988, and received his M.D. from the University of Texas Medical Branch in Galveston. While at UTMB, he began his interest in computers and medicine. He finished his psychiatric residency at Harbor-UCLA Medical Center in 1994, and he completed a fellowship in medical informatics at UC Davis in 1995. He is well known for his passion for teaching, and has received the UCLA department of psychiatry teaching award for both medical student and resident physician education. Dr. Luo publishes a bi-monthly column in Primary Psychiatry covering technology and psychiatry, and he is actively promoting use of mobile devices in medicine.
