Dr. Yerevanian is a is a Graduate of the American University of Beirut(MD 1974). He did his psychiatry training at the University of Tennessee and joined the Faculty of the University of Rochester in 1980. He has been at UCLA since 1991. He has founded and directed the Mood Disorders Program at the UCLA/SFV Psychiatry Training Program at Sepulveda VAMC for the past 12 years. He is Clinical Professor of Psychiatry at the Geffen School of Medicine at UCLA. He is the recepient of the Silver Apple Award given to the best clinical teacher in the Department of Psychiatry at Sepulveda on seven occasions since 1991. He is a fellow of the International Society for Affective Disorders. His goal has been to integrate patient care delivery with clinical research and teaching in the area of Mood Disorders which is done in the specialized setting of Mood Clinics.His current research interest is the neurobiology and psychopharmacology of Mood Disorders with particular emphasis on Suicidal Behavior.

Research Interests

Mood Disorders

Dr. Yerevanian's research interests involve the psychobiology of Mood Disorders such as depression, bipolar disorder as well as anxiety disorders. He has conducted studies on the neuroendocrinology and neurophysiology of depression and bipolar disorder as well on suicidal behavior. His current research involves the elucidation of the impact of psychopharmacological agents on suicidal behavior in adults
