Treatment of Bipolar II Depression – Clinical Trial
Under the direction of Lori Altshuler, M.D., the Mood Disorders Research Program is conducting a treatment study on Bipolar II Depression. The research compares two drugs, lithium and sertraline taken alone or in combination. Participation in the research lasts 17 weeks (~ 4 months) and includes laboratory tests and weekly or biweekly psychiatric evaluations and monthly social and occupational evaluations. Participants do not know which treatment they are receiving during the course of this study; however, upon completion or exit from the study, they will be notified so that the treating physician could be informed. Participation in the study is voluntary, confidential, and would not affect your present or future care at UCLA.
