The UCLA PEERS® Clinic is launching a new research study called PEERS for Preschoolers. The goal of this study is to examine the benefit of a parent-assisted intervention for young children with Autism Spectrum Disorder between the ages of 4 to 6 years who are having difficulty making and/or keeping friends. The intervention will target social skills fundamental to friendship development using treatment delivery methods established by the UCLA Program for the Education and Enrichment of Relational Skills (PEERS), an evidence-based social skills treatment for adolescents and young adults with ASD. A particularly innovative element of this study includes providing parents with in-vivo performance feedback while practicing social coaching and behavior management strategies with their children.
