If you are between the ages 22 and 68 and have been diagnosed with Depression but medications or other treatments haven't worked, then you may be eligible to participate in a research trial using Deep Transcranial Magnetic Stimulation for Major Depressive Disorder

Target audience: 

To be eligible for this study, you must

  • Be 22-68 years old
  • Be diagnosed with Depression and the current episode must be for >4 weeks but <5 years
  • Have not responded to antidepressant treatment or are intolerant to treatment

You cannot participate in this treatment if you have any of the following:

  • Bipolar disorder
  • OCD
  • Eating disorder
  • An increased risk for seizures (for any reason)
  • Pregnant or breast feeding

 

There are more inclusion and exclusion criteria not listed here. 

Involvement: 

This study includes a screening and baseline visit and 44 treatment visits. Treatment visits will occur five times per week for the first four weeks and then two times a week for the remaining 12 weeks. Subjects will be randomized into one of two group: Group 1 will receive rTMS treatment and Group 2 will receive sham treatment.
