Transition to Work

Transition to Work (TTW) is a 12-month vocational program for students with disabilities who can participate in campus life and work independently on a college campus but may not have the ability to succeed in a traditional college classroom. The program curriculum includes vocational training, job preparation and job search, computer usage and On –the-Job Training on the Foothill Campus. It provides courses in such areas as:

  • Computers
  • Communications
  • Office Skills
  • Work Attitudes
  • Social Skills
  • Adaptive Physical Education
Housing: 
No housing is offered through this program.
Duration: 
The Award of Appreciation/Completion is a 4 quarter course of study beginning in summer quarter (six weeks) continues fall, winter and spring quarters (12 weeks) and ends with a graduation ceremony.
Admission
Eligibility: 
  1. Successful completion of pre-program assessments (Students must take an Assessment class to determine eligibility for the program. It is a reading/math test with a writing component). Successful candidates are typically students who have 3rd-4th grade reading level and express awareness and interest in participating in the program.
  2. Behavior appropriate for a college campus environment.
  3. Ability to travel independently to and from the campus.
  4. A disability verified by a licensed, credentialed and certified professional.
Application: 

Upon passing the assessment test students must complete and and return to the Disability Resource Center (DRC) the application and the required documentation of the student’s disability. (Recent IEP and Psychological).

$31 per unit.  Students take 10-12 units per quarter.

Funding: 

Students receiving SSI fill out forms for enrollment fee waiver.

Some students receive funding from Department of Rehabilitation for this program.
