The images I make and what they arouse in the minds of my viewers is important to me. My images entitle the viewer to a full grasp of his or her own thinking...”Charles Fogle’s artworks cover a wide range of technique and subject matter cultivated by his years of study, painting, and experimentation. Having received his formal education in electronics, Fogle is a self-taught artist. Fogle uses a wheelchair due to paraplegia resulting from polio. He also has had chest and by-pass surgery. For several years, Fogle has served as a part-time instructor in watercolor painting and design at the Museum School, Arkansas Arts Center, and as an art instructor for Phillips County Community College. He served on the Arkansas Governor’s Committee for the Employment of Persons with Disabilities in the late 1970s and early 1980s. Fogle’s art has appeared in regional and international exhibitions, including the 18th Annual Mid-South Exhibit in Memphis, the 29th Annual Delta Art Exhibition in Arkansas, and the Ueno Royal Museum in Tokyo. He has had over 35 solo shows and has participated in more than 90 juried exhibitions. His work is included in numerous collections and he has also won many awards and honors.
