Do you have a child 9 – 17?
Does he or she have mood swings or feel sad a lot? If so, your family may be eligible to participate in a treatment study of family therapy conducted at UCLA.
Study involves: Full diagnostic evaluation for your child and the bipolar parent. Either 12 or 6 sessions of family-based therapy to help your family learn about mood problems and how to cope with mood swings. Psychiatric evaluations and care if desired. Follow-up evaluations for up to 4 years.Possible MRI brain scan, if eligible and willing to participate.
Eligible families will receive monetary compensation for research evaluations. Parents will receive reimbursement for parking. Therapy and psychiatry appointments are provided at no cost to participants.
