Mood Disorders Clinic
The Mood Disorders Clinic is committed to providing care, education and clinical research for patients suffering from depression and bipolar disorder.
Since its inception in 1978, the clinic has gradually expanded in order to accommodate its increasing number of patients and trainees. Currently, the clinic treats 325 ongoing patients and sees approximately 35 new patients each month. The Mood Disorders Clinic also acts as a training site for 12 residents each year. Hundreds of residents have graduated from the program since it was established.
Clinic patients are seen by a resident physician as well as an attending (faculty) physician. By conducting the program in this manner, residents receive extensive, practical experience while patients are provided with the highest level of medical care possible.
The Mood Disorders Clinic and the Mood Disorders research programs are highly integrated. Many subjects for the research studies are ongoing patients in the Clinic and the faculty in the Mood Disorders Group work in both the research programs and the Clinic, thereby providing a high level of coordination.
