Mood Disorders

Two of the most common mood disorders are depression and bipolar disorder.  At UCLA we have many groups researching, assessing and treating the whole spectrum of mood disorders, helping individuals and their families suffering from these conditions.

  • Our research programs are focused on bipolar disorder, major depressive disorder and depression specific to women's life phases (such as pregnancy, postpartum, perimenopause and menopause).
  • Our clinical programs seek to specifically evaluate and treat depression and bipolar disorder (also known as manic depression).
