The Reading Room

The Reading Room has floor-to-ceiling shelves stacked with books that were hand-picked by NPIH staff on a variety of mental illnesses and developmental disabilities. In addition, the Center subscribes to a number of healthcare publications which are housed here in binders. This room makes it possible to obtain accurate, updated information about a loved one's diagnosis, as well as news about recent developments in the field. This room also has two computers, which can be used by our clients to research resources, access online support groups, or draft documents. UCLA students who are specially trained to work with families are available to help search for information on the Internet. In addition, the Southern California "Rainbow Resource Guide", an authoritative directory of social service organizations, is installed and available for use on both of these computers.
