Viewing This Website
The site is Section 508 compliant so that most pages are accessible and capable of being processed by a text reader. This site has been optimized to work with the Mozilla Firefox web browser, with a monitor having a screen resolution of at least 1024 pixels across and text size set to medium. It has also been tested with Internet Explorer (PC versions 6 onwards) and the latest versions of the Netscape (PC and Mac) and the Safari (PC and Mac) browsers. Please note that some a small number of pages within this site may not render correctly on Internet Explorer version 6; the site may also not render properly on older browsers, such as IE5 for the Mac (which is no longer distributed or supported).
If you are limited to using older versions of Internet Explorer (specifically version 6 - still in use in parts of the Health System), you can install a plugin from Google that makes your browser act like a more modern one. This is useful where you don't have admin permissions to install new software. Go to www.google.com/chromeframe to download.
Content Editing
If you are someone who needs to log in and create content it is recommended you use a capable, modern browser. Currently (Aug 2010) the fastest browsers that also support the newest version of HTML and CSS are: Google Chrome; Apple Safari; Mozilla Firefox. All are free to download and installation usually copies settings from your current browser.
Although the site will render on all browsers, it is not recommended that content editors use Internet Explorer. If you have an older version of Internet Explorer (version 6 or earlier) this also has potential security risks and you are strongly encouraged to upgrade or switch to Chrome, Safari or Firefox.
Javascript Settings
For an improved visual user experience, it is recommended that Javascript is enabled (most browsers have this enabled by default). To change your browser's Javascript settings:
- Firefox: Tools>Options>Content>Enable Javascript *
- Internet Explorer 6/7/8: Tools>Internet Options>Security>Security Level in this zone>Custom Level>Scripting>Active Scripting - Enable
- Safari: Edit>Preferences>Security>Enable Javascript *
(* Note on a Mac, the Javascript options are changed by Preferences > ...)
You are also encouraged to update your browser to the latest version to minimize security risks to your own data. (Links to download latest updates: Firefox, IE 6/7/8, Safari, Google Chrome).
If nothing happens when you click on the above button, then there's probably something wrong with your Javascript settings.
