Driving Forces Behind Successful Postsecondary Education and Employment for Young Adults with Intellectual Disabilities and Autism: Working ConferenceDate: March 13, 2012The Center on Disability Studies at the University of Hawai‘i is partnering with UCLA in hosting the registration site for this event—see the CBI informational flyer and agenda posted below.Conference participants are encouraged to come as local teams comprised of two or more representatives (college or university disability support personnel, transition specialists, education administrators, rehabilitation counselors, regional center administrators and counselors, parents, persons with disabilities and their advocates). CaliforniaVolunteers and the Tarjan Center at UCLA Request for Proposals

CaliforniaVolunteers and the Tarjan Center at UCLA are seeking to fund California-based national service programs to include more service members and volunteers with disabilities. Eligible service programs can request up to $15,000 to undertake activities that help improve their accessibility, recruit more members or volunteers with disabilities, or reconsider the flexibility of their program design.  Successful applicants will complete their project by September 2012.  Applications must be received by February 20, 2012 and Awards will be announced by March 5, 2012.  Follow-up Projects to Statewide Forums on Careers in the Arts for People with Disabilities Deadline: February 29, 2012 The National Arts and Disability Center (NADC) in partnership with the National Endowment for the Arts (NEA) is pleased to announce support to state arts agencies to carry out Follow-up Projects to their Statewide Forum on Careers in the Arts for People with Disabilities. Please see attached. Follow-up activities should focus on individuals with disabilities who are pursuing careers in the arts and those who can support the work of artists with disabilities (i.e. arts employers, arts organizations, service providers, educators). Statewide Forums on Careers in the Arts for People with Disabilities Deadline: February 29, 2012 The National Arts and Disability Center (NADC) in partnership with the National Endowment for the Arts (NEA) is pleased to announce support to conduct Statewide Forums on Careers in the Arts for People with Disabilities. The purposes of the Statewide Forums are to support activities that (1) assess the education and career needs and barriers for artists and arts administrators with disabilities; and (2) develop and implement strategies to overcome barriers and advance careers in the arts for individuals with disabilities.
