Academic Trainee Office
The Academic Trainee Office in the Semel Institute hires and supports postdoctoral scholars from all over the world as well as UCLA Graduate students and Predoctoral trainees from various departments as they navigate through their early research careers in the field of Psychiatry, Clinical Psychology and the Neurosciences
Postdoctoral Scholars.
Postdocs are recent Doctoral graduates. They participate in a period of intense research training designed to prepare them for careers in academia and industry. They all hold a payroll title but can be paid a taxable income from the department or a stipend through Graduate Division.

Graduate Student Researchers.
GSRs are Graduate students that assist Faculty with scholarly research. They hold a payroll title and are paid a taxable income form the department.

Predoctoral Trainees.
Predocs are selected for high achievement and promise as scholars. They server in a very similar capacity to GSRs, however, they hold no payroll title and stipends are paid through Graduate Division.
